    Active Aging

Active Aging takes place when communities offer older adults a variety of structured and unstructured physical activities in which they can participate.

    Best Practices

The most efficient and effective way of accomplishing a task, based on repeatable procedures that have proven themselves over time for large numbers of people.

    Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR)

Actively involves the community being studied in the research.  CBPR also uses knowledge of the community to understand health problems and to design activities to improve health care (interventions), connects community members directly with how the research is done and what comes out of it and provides immediate benefits from the results of the research to the community that participated in the study.

    Cost Analysis

An analysis of the cost effectiveness of different alternatives in order to see whether the benefits outweigh the costs

    Evidence-based Research

Programs or practices that effectively integrate the best research evidence with clinical expertise, cultural competence and the values of the persons receiving the services. These programs or practices will have consistent scientific evidence showing improved outcomes for clients, participants or communities. Evidence-based practices may include individual clinical interventions, population-based interventions, or administrative and system-level practices or programs.

    Intergenerational

    Being or occurring between generations

    Physical Activity Self-assessment

An assessment of one's ability to perform physical activity safely.  Assessments can help them know when to see a health care provider and how to choose activities for optimal benefit given particular health conditions or situations.

    Smart Growth

Smart Growth takes place when communities offer people of varying age, wealth and physical ability a range of safe, affordable, convenient choices where they live and how they get around.

    Technical Assistance

The providing of advice, assistance, and training pertaining to program implementation and maintanence.

    Translational Research

    Transforms theory into practice.
